Whenever I try to validate asp.net pages with atlas controls on the W3C Validation Service I get errors like this:

I was really surprised this didn't work especially when it says at the top that it has imported these namespaces:

I'm not an expert, but Ithink that if you were to convert all XML script tags inside the (XHTML) <script> tag to be prefixed with script:, it would work. E.g.:

I have my web pages that are using web services via atlas technology. when page loads users can click on the links but get error because page has not been loaded yet. How do I know that page loaded on atlas? How do I know that procies are created? can someone provide me some working javascript or what ever is possible to detect it?

Hi,just hook up the load event raised by the global Sys.Application instance. Here's the code to add to your page:

As you can see from above I am trying to dynamically load webpages (FindPatient.aspx and FindEpisode.aspx) into UpdatePanel1 which holds a DIV (divContent1) when the relevant menu item is clicked.
I have two problems:
1. Using the javascript function that I call to replace the innerhtml of divContent1 with the selected webpage, causes errors on the page and no popluating of the DIV. However if I point the code to divContent2 - outside the update panel the innerhtml function works.
2. I need the called page to be displayed in the updatepanel because I dont want the menuitems on the base page to be refreshed each time the content pages causes a refresh.
Can anyone help?

well, this is not the correct way of doing this. the updatepanel will let you refresh parts of a page, but it won't let you load a page on another. if that is what you want, then you should consider using an iframe.
Thanks for your quick response, I have traditionally used iFrames but understood that they were not an ideal solution. Sites such asiGoogle seem to suggest that AJAX does allow webpages to be displayed in an updatepanel because you can click on one of the YouTube videos and it will refresh the embedded page while leaving those areas outside it untouched. That is the kind of functionality that I am trying to achieve.
Any further ideas would be very much appreciated.

yes, that is correct. if you're into updatepanels, then i'd refactor the site so that each page is transformed into a user control which is loaded by the udpatepanel during partial postbacks. if you do know how to write js, then you shoudl do it all in the client side: you'd use web services to get the data and then js to replace the contents of the place holders. do notice that this is really hard to do and you'll have to be a good js coder (but it's the correct way of doing stuff, if you ask me that is)

like many i am new to AJAX and i am willing to dig in because i need to modernize an existing web application with pages in both in ASP (80%) and ASP.NET (20%) pages. I know the straightforward answer should be migrate all your asp in asp.net but unfortunately it's not an option.
Basically, what i am trying to do is to display a dragable panel on top those existing pages. The panel should be able to display information about the page. The user could also add new content in this panel and save seamlessly with AJAX.
First of all, if i want to reuse the widget from the toolkit, how can load them in ASP pages ?
Also, i read you can use the Ajax client library in non ASP.net. What does it mean ? I've look at it and it does seem very friendly. Any help would be appreciated.
Lastly, is it possible to have widget load from ASP integrated with an ASP.NET back-end for server side processing?

Well i got a solution that worked perfect for me: I am using Dojo. It's much more flexible in non ASP world and the toolkit set much richer as of now.
I have a few pages that use UpdatePanels and Timer components to refresh the content periodically. However I need to have it refresh only when the mouse hasn't been moved for a minute so it doesn't interrupt the user.
I have been using a javascript timer to refresh a custom component that uses callbacks but it is interfering with the AJAX UpdatePanel and causing State Corruption so I would like an all AJAX solution if possible.
Question 1: Can mouse movement reset an Ajax Timer, if so how?
Question 2: Is there a way to trigger the UpdatePanel from Javascript?

Not sure if that will work exactly, but, through that or somthing similar you should be able to manipulate the timer on the client side.

Easily referencing behavior instances
It used to be tricky to get a reference to a behavior from client script, but now you can simply add a "BehaviorID" attribute to your control's property specification and it will be easily accessible on the client via ASP.NET AJAX's Sys.Application.findComponent(id) method or its $find(id) shortcut. (Note: If BehaviorID isn't specified, the behavior's ID on the client will be the same as the extender control's ClientID.) See DynamicPopulate or ResizableControl for examples.

I'm not receiving any Javascript errors when I move the mouse. I know it's finding MT.ClientID as I use another javascript timer to display the mouse_moved variable. Perhaps I'm not changing the actual instance of the timer? Wild guess here. I really need to have more time to study the nitty gritty bits of AJAX but as it is I hardly have time to do this much.

The code behind for the buttons just does a Threading.Sleep() for testing purposes so I'm not going to bother posting that code.
The problem is, I want to use this in a master page... However, when I put all this code in my master page, it doesn't work. I end up getting Javascript errors that I can't figure out. Any ideas as to why the above code works perfect yet won't work in a master page?
