How can I detect whether a browser is going to support UpdatePanel?

well, not an easy thing to do here...at the client sidce you can use the Sys.Runtime.get_hostType() method to see what host you're using. you can something like that on the server side too, though (page.request.browser) though i really think that none of the approaches is 100% safe...
